Junior Nature Discovery - Module 1
This program introduce young and older learners to knowledge of the field, with topics ranging from tracking, fauna and flora, how to skin your catch to survival in the bush.
Cost: R375 per person – Duration: 2 Days
This program is specifically created for our young learners, to embed a deep sense of care and protection for our entire ecology. Nature guiding entails so much more than just enjoying animals in a park and this very exciting journey are now available to all - especially our younger generations.
Many studies have proved the incredible learning ability of children to contain knowledge and learning experience when it comes from their own parents. Which bring us to the next very unique and important part of our program. Parents are encouraged to join their children in this journey, even not as a fellow student, but to allow parents to experience their child’s development alongside them. The opportunity of getting out of the hectic daily routine, with very little time to see and hear our kids, is detrimental for our children’s development. At the same time parents may discover some things they never knew.
Having parents partnering in their interest gives the child the encouragement to follow their own dreams with assurance of their parents understanding and respect. Also being under the personal care of the parent give the child a sense of safety. This is a wonderful proven boost to a child parent relationship.
Survival and adventure
A walk with our guide, learning from nature itself is a major part of this classroom experience. Game drives, a nice experience with the Bushveld sounds and smells, to night- outside events, again brings that which caused fear to be understood and embraced. This is where our survival training is introduced. Many things need to be known of how to handle different stressful unforeseen events. And a field guide will encounter these emergencies often far away from immediate assistance, therefor some amazing techniques will be introduced to make sure that one will survive even in the worst of situations.
The adventure is nature itself, but our coaches Tom and Elanie enjoys exposing us and our children to many thrilling challenges as to better understand ourselves and the behavior of those around us. For all parents concern for their busy kids, not knowing if they will be able to endure an hour in the lecture hall, may relax, they will be using the excess energy on the many obstacle courses. Parents do not have to join their kids on this, but may build memories with amazing photos taken.
